Before you book commercial tree work, you need to know how it will fit around your site. Here we explain how we plan access, choose machinery, keep work areas separate and record the finished job. How a commercial job is planned
We assess the site before choosing how to do the work. Photographs help with an enquiry, but we also need to check the trees, what is underneath them, where machinery can stand and how timber and chippings will leave. We plan around the parts of your site that need to keep running.
Your written quote explains the method, the access we need and what is not included. We flag any permissions needed before booking. The tree owner is responsible for consents: contact the local planning authority about Tree Preservation Order consent or conservation area notice, and the Forestry Commission about a felling licence. Wildlife duties still apply.
Access, plant and site setup
Access is a big part of choosing the right equipment. We check gate widths, turning space and the route for the chipper, along with how much weight the ground can carry. Soft verges, decking over basements, buried services and overhead lines all affect where machinery can go.
Before the first day, we agree work areas, separate pedestrian routes, protection for surfaces and retained trees, and welfare arrangements. Tell us about permits to work, inductions and fixed working hours so we can allow for them in the schedule.
Working methods on site
Work is carried out by NPTC qualified arborists to the method statement issued for your site. Trees are felled in one piece only where there is room; otherwise they are dismantled in sections and rigged down away from buildings, services, vehicles and people.
Timber, brash and chippings are dealt with as agreed in the quote: chipped and left, logged and stacked, or removed from site. Where the job involves protected trees, nesting birds, bats or a construction programme, the timing and the sequence change, and the method statement is written to reflect that.

What happens at handover
You receive a completion record showing the work done against each tree reference, with photographs where useful. It includes any agreed changes and the reasons for them, plus waste records for material removed from site. If monitoring or follow-up work is recommended, we record when it is due and who is responsible.
