Commercial Tree Maintenance For Estates And Managed Sites

A tree maintenance programme helps you plan work, set priorities and keep clear records for your estate. Inspections and reports are priced separately from any tree work they recommend. Regular inspections help you manage the trees, but cannot guarantee that a tree or branch will never fail.

What an inspection covers

The inspection covers the trees on your agreed list, viewed from ground level. It records their condition, any defects and the risks to people and property nearby. You receive a written record of this walkover assessment. Climbing inspections and detailed decay investigations are recommended and priced separately if needed.

The competent person inspecting the trees sets the inspection frequency. They consider the trees, any previous failures and how the surrounding land is used, including schools, public footpaths and car parks. We put the agreed frequency in writing.

Records and what you receive

The record gives you a clear account to refer back to: what was checked, what was found, what was recommended and what you decided to do.

• Tree references matched to a plan or to tagged trees on site
• Species, size and condition notes for each tree inspected
• Defects and risk notes explaining which people or property could be affected
• Recommended work, split into priorities with suggested timeframes
• What was inspected, when, and by whom, ready for your health and safety file

How recommendations and follow-on work are priced

We agree the inspection and reporting scope, report author and fee before booking. Any tree work recommended is then quoted separately from the work schedule. You can approve it, arrange phases, seek another quote or discuss whether it can wait. An inspection does not give us permission to start the work.

If you defer work, we record the date and your reason so the decision is clear in the site file.

What the arrangement is not

The landowner or occupier remains legally responsible for tree safety. A maintenance programme gives you information and records to help you meet that responsibility; it does not transfer it to the contractor.

Urgent problems cannot wait for the next planned visit. If an inspection finds a defect needing immediate action, we report it straight away.

What is priced separately

The items below are not included unless stated in your quote. If you need them, we will agree the cost before starting.

• Climbing, aerial or decay-detection inspections, which are priced separately
• Ecological surveys, bats, and protected species advice
• The remedial tree works themselves, which are quoted from the schedule
• Structural engineering or subsidence investigations

Getting a quote

• Site plan or list of the trees you want on the schedule
• What the site is used for, and who is under the trees day to day
• Any existing reports, previous inspections or outstanding work
• The frequency you are being asked for, and who set it
• Who signs off work and what your health and safety file needs to show

Where we work

Regular work is across County Durham, North Yorkshire and the North East. We also consider larger contracts further afield, depending on the schedule, access and length of the job. Send the site details and we will confirm whether we can cover it and arrange visits.
